I've got a Family Computer System in 2023

Posted on Aug 12, 2023

My first video game console was the Atari 2600. My parents bought it back in the 80s. However, my fondest childhood memories are from the 90s, when I had a Family Game, which was an alternative version of the Super Nintendo.

Just last week, while browsing through one of those inexpensive Chinese retail websites, I stumbled upon a small replica of the Super Nintendo with 650 games preloaded on it. I immediately added it to my cart, and it arrived earlier this week.

On the first day, I wasn’t able to use it because it came with an A/V connection—no HDMI, of course. So, I had to purchase an adapter from Amazon, which ended up costing me half the price of the console itself ($7.99).

After setting up the console on my desktop and connecting it to one of the HDMI inputs on my monitor, I turned it on, and it worked perfectly. As soon as it powers up, it displays the first page of games, ready to be played—either alone or with another player, as it comes with two controllers.

Currently, my go-to games are Adventure Island, Ninja Turtles, Super Mario, Mappy, and Contra. However, aside from these, the console comes with many classic games that you can enjoy right out of the box.

If you’re interested, you can check it out—it’s currently priced at $14.49 on Temu (not sponsored).
